Who We Are
Wilson Extension Master Gardeners
At Wilson Botanical Gardens, we are dedicated to educating and leading knowledgeable and dedicated Extension Master Gardeners. These volunteers provide the necessary maintenance of our beautiful gardens.
At Wilson Botanical Gardens, education blooms naturally. From hands-on outdoor learning to community talks and interactive gardens, we invite visitors of all ages to deepen their connection with plants, nature, and the world around us. Our educational mission is rooted in discovery — whether you’re a lifelong plant lover or just beginning to explore gardening, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.
What We Do
Garden Talks & Presentations
Each month, local experts and Extension Master Gardeners share practical, inspiring talks on topics like pruning, composting, wildlife habitat, floral design, and more. These sessions are open to everyone and packed with tips you can use at home or in your own garden.
Extension Master Gardeners
The Wilson Extension Master Gardeners play a central role in our education efforts. These trained volunteers lead talks, support garden projects, and help cultivate community knowledge about horticulture and sustainable practices. Interested in getting involved or taking your gardening skills further? Ask us how you can join their ranks!
Volunteer & Get Involved
Education isn’t just about watching — it’s about doing! Volunteers help nurture the gardens, assist with events, support educational programs, and share their own knowledge with the community. Whether you’re digging in the soil or helping lead a workshop, there’s a place for you here.
Outdoor Classrooms in Action
Our gardens themselves are living classrooms. Wander through themed spaces — from native plant beds to herb gardens and shaded trails — and discover how plants grow, interact, and contribute to a healthy environment. These immersive experiences are perfect for school groups, families, and curious minds of all ages.
Youth & STEM Learning
We’re proud to support youth engagement with outdoor science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through hands-on activities in our STEM garden. This unique space blends natural learning with real-world concepts — making science feel alive and exciting for students.
Be a Part of the Learning Garden
From monthly talks to outdoor exploration and youth programs, Wilson Botanical Gardens offers something for every learner. Stay tuned to our calendar for upcoming workshops, seasonal classes, and special education events — and let’s grow together!
